Exit 2: Migration and Trapping of Natural Gas and Crude Oil

Curriculum Dowlload

Is crude oil and natural gas found in large lakes underneath the earth's surface?  Do experiments to show how crude oil and natural gas can be trapped in porous rocks.  Create a graphic organizer to compare and contrast properties of oil and water.  Requires Acrobat Reader.

Exit 2 Experiment

Experiments: Shaking It Up, Absorbing Rocks and Getting Physical with Oil.

Observe how the different densities of oil and water cause migration through permeable layers of rock, what happens when drops of oil are put on different rocks and how the properties of oil and water compare.
