First-Class STEM Curriculum Available for At-Home Learning

April 8, 2020

OOGEEP recognizes that students benefit from learning core science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) principles at an early age. As teachers and students adjust to online learning, Ohio’s natural gas and oil industry is helping keep kids engaged while they’re faced with the challenges of learning at home.

Materials typically reserved for teachers and schools are now accessible via OOGEEP’s online virtual classrooms. Lessons covering chemistry, earth science, geology and physics are available and range from middle to high school-level, and meet state and national standards.

“Many families are looking for supplemental tools to help their students stay sharp and on a schedule during this difficult time,” Greg Mason, Interim Executive Director at OOGEEP said. “Ohio’s natural gas and oil industry prioritizes educating the general public, which is why OOGEEP will be providing families with free online access to the same STEM and Geology curriculum that many teachers incorporate in their classroom plans.”

Emphasizing hands-on learning experiences, OOGEEP’s curriculum includes a variety of at-home science experiments that translate STEM concepts to everyday life and careers in the natural gas and oil industry.

Here’s a look at a few of the award-winning programs:
