OOGEEP Announces George Brown as New Executive Director

Granville, OH – The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) is pleased to announce George Brown has been appointed executive director.

The announcement was made by David R. Hill, chairman of the OOGEEP operating committee board.

“On behalf of the operating committee board, I’d like to welcome George to the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program,” said chairman Hill. “George has a long track record of successful leadership, and we’re excited to have him leading our organization at this pivotal time for the industry.”

Brown has extensive experience in designing and managing successful programs, partnerships and operations in both the public and private sectors. He joined OOGEEP after serving in a senior role at the Federal Housing Finance Agency where he led engagements with members of congress and industry stakeholders. He has previous experience serving as the Deputy Assistant Administrator for Congressional and Legislative Affairs and Associate Administrator for Intergovernmental Affairs at the U.S. Small Business Administration, where he spearheaded efforts with federal, state and local leaders on a variety of issues impacting small businesses across America. His private sector experience includes managing regulatory and government affairs at Westfield Insurance. He has also served in the offices of U.S. Senators George V. Voinovich and Rob Portman. Brown is a Warren, Ohio native and he earned his undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University.

Ohio produced natural gas and oil has been essential in leading the state and country through the COVID-19 pandemic. From heating home offices and powering delivery vehicles to producing raw materials for personal protective gear, energy producers have stood with other frontline workers to help America fight the battle against the virus,” said Brown, executive director of OOGEEP. “I’m excited for the opportunity to lead this incredible organization and look forward to working with the operating committee board, industry stakeholders and community partners to bolster OOGEEP efforts.”

As executive director, Brown will work closely with OOGEEP staff and the operating committee board to educate the public on the natural gas and oil industry. In addition to OOGEEP’s long-running annual programs, Brown will oversee the continuation of the Essential Ohio Energy campaign, which launched with great success in 2020.
